A Journal Entry.

  • Mood: dA Love
  • Listening to: my entire collection on random, as always.
Since I have had this account for awhile and have never really written any journals for it I thought I would write one detailing my journey through the DeviantArt community up to now.

My first account on DA was !mWarrior which I created during a time when I was really interested in the science of memetics. I often posted on a usenet group called alt.memetics under the name mwarrior (which stood for meme warrior). Thus when I created my account at DA, I used the same name.

After awhile of using that account and becoming something of a DA addict, I created this account to showcase my blooming interest in figure art which I felt didn't fit with the cartoons I showcased in my primary account. This account enjoy relatively low activity with pretty much the only people seeing my art where the administrators of the stock account that I used for reference for my drawings

Around the same time I began to become more and more active in the DA politics forum. My involvment was not a benefical one, as I am something of a contrarian and my natural impluse is to disagree with the previaling opinion even if I might actually believe it.

Arguments became fierce and I developed something of a reputation among some of the other posters. I couldn't have a serious conversation any more without someone mentioning how they had heard I "was a brick wall" or something along those lines. I wonder when my activities on DA had become less about the Art and more about the Politics forum.

I eventually asked the DA admins to remove my main account and vowed to only draw figure art and only submit it to DA (under this account) for the sake of having a online copy of my work. I would not try to get friends or devwatchers on this account nor would I post in any of the forums. I purely drew and experienced a renewed sense of what I liked about this site in the first place, the art.

Well, the politics forum had never regained its appeal to me but now the *DAReligiousForum has drawn me in. Its a much quieter place with a focus more to my interests (ie: abstract, philosophical, spiritual). I just hope my contrarian habits don't ostracize me, the way they did in the politics forum.
